Earth, Sol System - In one months from now, Earth Alliance will be celebrating its presidential elections as done once every four years. This year, defering from what we saw in previous campaigns, the eyes of public opinion are centered in the events that took place last year related mostly with the tragic events that ended in the death of prominent scinentist Mctychson, and the accusations of corruption, murther and torture among others lead over good part of the presidential military advisors and government staff. For the last two weeks, the accusations and tone of Senator and Presidential Candidate Susanna Luchenko has risen, and campaign has grown tense.
President Alan Preston Bearly wining the elections agains Former President Susanna Luchenko, preston directed the government with very low profile up to last two years of his mandate, when a great economic depression menaced to destroy Earth Alliance economy completely. After the economy seemed to reactivate, he was accused by the oposition of being responsible for the events that ended in the death of scientist McTychson, and almost ends its mandate when it was revealed that the same Earth Alliance might have been responsible of acts that can be described only as terrorism of state.
Senator Susanna Luchenko Susanna Luchenko becomes the President of the Earth Alliance following the overthrow and suicide of President Morgan Clark, who had assumed dictatorial powers after the death after assuming as Vice President of Murdered President Luis Santiago. She played a key role in ending Clark's oppressive policies, including ending his martial law decree, and restoring democracy to the Earth Alliance. Luchenko had previously represented the Russian Consortium in the Earth Senate. When she became President of the Earth Alliance, she appealed to the people of the Alliance to remain calm, and not to resort to committing acts of revenge against members of Clark's regime. She asked that people "...listen to the better angels of their nature". Luchenko said that the courts and legal system would investigate and prosecute those who committed crimes during Clark's presidency. After finishing her mandate she was elected Senator and bacame greatest opositor of President Preston after last year's scandal. |
